Henry Stuart Lord Darnley, husband of Mary, Queen of Scots

Lord Darnley was Mary, Queen of Scots’ second husband and father to King James VI and I.

Lord Darnley didn’t always look this innocent; he became a violent character and murdered Mary's secretary in a fit of jealousy because he believed him to be the father of his wife’s unborn child instead of him.

This painting is typical of Hans Eworth’s style with rich attention to detail and a glossy look.

Are these original C16th details or is the paint still fresh?
