Shooting Party in the Highlands, Halting for Lunch

In the mid C19th paintings of the Scottish Highlands were very fashionable.

Liverpool born Ansdell is one of the best known painters of Highland subjects and he was the go-to artist for his depiction of animals.

He was often commissioned to paint portraits of shooting parties enjoying a mid-hunt picnic or returning home with their spoils.
