James VI and I (child)

James VI of Scotland became King at just one year old. Though a child here, he’s depicted in adult clothing with a hawk on his arm, signifying the wise ruler he was considered to be.

Bronckhorst became the King’s painter and this is one of the first ever portraits valued for its artistic qualities.

But is it a real Bronckhorst ?
