An Accident

This painting was the first Lowry bought by any Manchester art gallery. Lowry uses the civic and industrial buildings as a backdrop for this scene. Inspired by an incident in Pendlebury, Manchester, where a woman committed suicide by drowning.  The first title of this painting was ‘Something Wrong’.
