An Island

This painting is of a derelict, isolated building surrounded by wasteland.

Despite its loneliness, Lowry’s usual symbols of industry can be spotted; smoking chimneys, smoggy dark skyline, telegraph poles.  His works have a striking use of both two and three dimensions, creating a distinctive style all of his own.

Is this really Lowry’s handiwork or could it be a fantastic fake?
