An Organ Grinder

Performing Organ Grinders were familiar faces on Mancunian streets in the late 19th and early 20th century. Lowry has drawn the musician as a distant figure in his street scene, but guides our eye toward him through the poses and turned heads of the crowd in the foreground.

Lowry based this on a pencil drawing he did in 1930.
