Coming Home from the Mill

Mills were always prominent in Lowry’s depictions of Manchester. 

He chose to paint on a variety of surfaces from panel to canvas.  He often painted over old images and re-used discarded work.  On the reverse of this painting is a sketch of two men sitting at desks with a queue passing by them.
